Causes
The main cause of Aanal-fistula is either a clogged anal gland or abscesses. There are other causes as well, which are as follows:
Crohn’s disease (with an inflamed intestine)
Tuberculosis
Radiation (Caused due to the treatment of Cancer)
Sexually transmitted diseases
Diagnosis
The probe of the Fistula can be done in many ways. Either through sitting or in an anesthetic condition, the observations are done. Some of the possible findings are:
The affected area is painful
There may be redness in the area
Discharge may be observed in the area
Observation of the Fistula onto the skin
These may be the possible outcomes of the diagnosis of a person suffering from Fistula.
Treatment
Fistula to lay open: In this procedure, the Fistula is kept open through a surgical method. It is packed on a regular basis for a short period of time. This helps in healing of the wound.
Cutting seton: If the situation has aggravated and is high in position, a cutting seton can be used to operate the area. A thin tube is inserted through the Fistula tract and the ends are tied together outside the person’s body.
LIFT Technique: In this procedure, the internal opening is closed through a surgical process and infected cryptoglandular tissue is removed through a process called intersphincteric approach.
Fistula Plug: In this method, the fistula is plugged with a device. This is placed from the inside part of the anus with the suture.
