As per my observation in last 2-3 years, there is an increased incidence of ano rectal problem in younger generation in an otherwise healthy individual. This seems to be mainly because of altered life style.
There are two aspects of it :
1) Food habit.
2) Lack of physical activity.
Now a days the younger generation is prone to eat food made of refined flour , polished rice . Home cooked meals made of whole grains like , jowar , bazar etc are long gone. Refined flour/ polished rice cause constipation, bloating and abdominal discomfort and also lead to constipation which is the main cause of anal fissure. Habitual constipation leads to Piles / Haemorrhoids.
The answer lies in eating a balanced diet comprising whole grains or parboiled rice , vegetables, fruits, raw salad and yoghurt. Along with these plenty of fluids should be taken.
2) The pandemic has already changed our daily routine. Instead of going out for work, shopping and entertainment the young generation now a days does all these sitting in front of his/her computer or mobile phone. This lack of physical activity and sitting almost all day is the main reason for digestive problems and constipation. The solution lies in increasing physical activity and mobility even if working from home.
In short, lifestyle modification is the key to a healthier mind and body.
